See you @ the beach!
The lives of everyone in the world have been affected by the current situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic. Cities are in lockdown, people are quarantined at their homes and most of the trivial activities one would usually perform in a normal day are not recommended or simply impossible.
Beach volleyball players are no exception to the rule as they just saw a significant portion of their international season being indefinitely postponed and have also to deal with a massive level of uncertainty in what was supposed to be a huge year for the sport with the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
However, as we all knew from watching their play around the world year after year, beach volleyball players are resilient and wise creatures. As they deal with a life full of restrictions and try to stay fit for whenever they’re allowed to get back in the courts, some players still had the time and the sensibility to spread messages of love and positivity to those who follow them on social media.
Austrian star Clemens Doppler was one of the first. The veteran, who volunteered to help people who are part of the risk group in Vienna by bringing them groceries or medicines home, is hopeful something positive can be created after this unfortunate situation.
The unexpected and unprecedented situation also hit hard on Dutch Madelein Meppelink. The blocker was extremely genuine to voice her struggle to deal with the current scenario, but also shared her feeling that it will make all of our stronger in the end.
Canadian Sam Pedlow decided to use his backyard and some barbells to maintain his fitness until it’s safe for him to leave the house again. Known in the tour as a gym rat, he was kind enough to develop a work out challenge that can be followed by virtually everyone, which he’s updating daily on his Instagram account.
Austrian twins Nadine and Teresa Strauss chose to use the unwanted free time on their hands to focus on hobbies that were often neglected in their busy routines. The first product of it was a delicious apple cake.
Canadian star Brandie Wilkerson, who just returned home after a training camp in Brazil, summarized the message we all should be spreading right now – Be Strong, Stay Safe.
