The 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships will be held for the first time in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
Austria is home to some of the most loyal beach volleyball fans, and between 28th July and 6th August, tens of thousands of fanatical spectators will watch 48 of the globe’s greatest teams per gender compete for one of the biggest prizes in the sport.
It won’t be the first time Austria has hosted the tournament – Klagenfurt staged the 2001 championships – and it promises to be a wonderful and momentous occasion at the 10,000-capacity Center Court.
The last World Championships took part in the Netherlands and was a huge success - now it's Vienna's turn to show the world what it can do on the beach!
Ticket information for the event will appear here in due course.

It won’t just be beach volleyball that will take center stage during the tournament – fans will also be treated to a number of attractions, exhibitions and party nights.
“With the World Championships 2017 in Vienna, a dream will come true!” said organizer Hannes Jagerhofer at the unveiling at the Volleyball House in Rio during the 2016 Olympics.
“I am delighted that we have found such an experienced, strong and motivated partner with Vienna, which will provide fantastic infrastructure and the best conditions for an extraordinary event like the World Championships. For 21 years, beach volleyball in Klagenfurt, on the beautiful shores of Lake Wörthersee, has written an unprecedented success story, which we will now continue in the metropolis Vienna.”
Vienna also received a glowing reference from FIVB president Ary S. Graça.
“The FIVB and the entire volleyball family is looking forward to experiencing the warm welcome and fantastic hosting credentials that Austria has already showed us when the country staged the 2001 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Klagenfurt,” he said.
